Team GB Rio Live App
In partnership with Team GB and Worldwide Olympic sponsor Visa we created a games-time experience app for iOS and Android that delivered all the vital information to fans while the action in Rio unfolded.
Simplicity and speed
We understand how valuable being ‘first to know’ is for fans. So, during the Olympics we knew we needed to deliver the latest breaking news first and deliver it reliably so we got to work on an app that would deliver just that. We integrated with the best data feeds and designed a slick, quick user experience that delivered the relevant information on time, every time. Then we linked the app to the fans social profiles so they could be the first to tell their friends what was happening in Rio. The resulting app caused huge spikes on social media and huge traffic to the teamgb.com site during the Games.

Sponsorship value
We worked closely with Team GB throughout the run-up to the games on unlocking sponsorship value – Visa was the perfect partner to develop the app with. The app experience was created in conjunction with Visa brand team and helped them to land their vision of being a reliable technology innovator, able to deliver transactions with 100% accuracy and speed.
A co-design approach
The creation and design of the interface and fan journeys were developed with our co-creation process: collaborative sketches and workshops and prototypes allowed us to create a truly valuable experience with buy-in from all stakeholders.
Topping the app charts
Not only was this a big year for the medal winners from Team GB, our app also smashed its way through the charts, trending at the #1 position on the app store and reaching over 350,000 downloads and 8 million + interactions during the games.
