Level: mid-weight/senior (depending on experience)

The role

We are looking for an experienced user experience designer who understands how consumers move across channels in order to design outstanding digital designs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Aqueduct team, to bring your considerable talents to an evolving agency and become a key foundation for the next phase of our growth. You would be joining a fast paced, fun, creative and challenging environment, and get to work with leading and inspirational brands.

At Aqueduct we believe in a user centred design approach, and as a member of the experience team you would be required to consider and understand how your work meets user and business needs, how to develop seamless and connected customer experiences, whilst at the same time leading and driving new thinking in to the heart of delivery.

As a small team we want someone who is passionate, with bags of ability and experience, and who likes to take responsibility and lead. You should be hungry for all things digital, believe that the devil is in the detail, be keenly interested in both strategic and design challenges, and always look to push the art of what is possible.

 

Responsibilities

We expect the successful applicant to be capable of:

  • Owning and designing the customer experience and interface design across a range of projects and client engagements, through a solid and honed technique.
  • Working collaboratively and face-to-face with clients to design intelligent customer experience journeys and strategic solutions that make the most of every channel, understand their business operation, and deliver return on investment.
  • Continuously looking to find ways to optimise and improve existing solutions, and to find new ways of thinking and learning.
  • An ability to work fluidly and quickly to help define direction and communicate ideas at pace through sketches, wireframes, prototypes and other project documentation methods.
  • Working closely and effectively with other teams, especially with visual design team members, in owning and offering user experience leadership for all areas of any project and championing a user centric approach across the agency.
  • Maintaining regular contact with other internal teams including front and back end developers on a specific project to ensure a consistent approach to the design solution of the project output.
  • Acting with confidence in client interaction and presentations, and to work closely with client teams where appropriate.
  • Able to design, facilitate and report on client and project workshops to capture requirements, develop new ideas and shape the digital solution.
  • Support the Chief Experience Officer, and other senior agency team members, in team activities and programmes to positively influence and develop the agency skills and thinking.

 

Experience and skills

We are looking for the successful applicant to have:

  • Over four years agency experience designing solutions across a range of industry sectors and working closely with client teams, and now looking to take the next step in your career development.
  • A strong and detailed portfolio of work that showcases your methodology, thinking and design development (it is important for us to understand how you think and how you worked within a team towards your final design deliverable).
  • Previous experience in agile working methods is an advantage but is not essential.
  • An approach that understands the value and importance of data analysis and traffic patterns as a foundation for user centred design solutions and for insights that drive new thinking.
  • An excellent understanding of designing for today’s technology and platforms required to build digital interactive solutions and experiences.
  • Advanced skills in designing from a range of programmes and in-browser packages (such as Axure, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch) and in rapid prototype design.
  • Demonstrable experience in organising, conducting and analysing user testing programmes and customer facing surveys.
  • A detailed understanding of the principles, techniques and considerations associated with designing for accessibility and SEO.
  • A strong presenter and communicator who is comfortable leading from the front with clients and internal teams.

As the team user experience lead you will be integral to the future success of this team, to work closely with others to shape, lead and inspire design solutions. Aqueduct has strong relationships with our clients and you may be required to work both at a client site in addition to the company offices in east London. We look for grown-ups to join our team, each member is expected to be proactive and self-manage their own responsibilities both on projects and in the team itself.
